General Overview for Abstract Submission

Abstracts may be submitted for Oral/Poster, Symposium or Workshop presentations. Authors are asked to advise their preference; however, the decision of which abstracts to select for oral presentation from Oral/Poster submission will be decided by the Congress Scientific Committee.

Abstracts must be submitted via the Congress website only. Only abstracts submitted via the online submission form will be sent to the Abstract Review Committee for review. Abstracts submitted by fax or e-mail will not be accepted.

Please do not submit multiple copies of the same abstract.

Please note that there are no limits on the number of abstracts which can be submitted, however, each individual will be selected to present based on available slots

The Congress Scientific Committee will determine whether abstracts will be accepted. A confirmation email will be sent to the presenter when the abstract has been received. Please refer to the abstract by number, title and presenting author in all correspondence regarding the abstract.

Please contact the Secretariat if you have not received confirmation that the abstract has been received.

All abstracts for the 2018 International Biennial Congress of the Marcé Society must be written in English. Please ensure that they are written using person-first (e.g. women with schizophrenia…, children with special needs…) and respectful language. Abstracts may include research studies or reports of clinical/community/educational/policy or advocacy initiatives.

Presenting authors must be registered participants. Only abstracts of authors who have paid their registration fees by Registration Deadline will be scheduled for presentation and included for publication.

Abstracts may not be edited/updated after final submission. You are welcome to bring an updated abstract onsite with you.

Your abstract is not successfully submitted until you receive a confirmation e-mail after clicking the final submit button in the dashboard of the abstract submission portal. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please contact .

Submitting Your Abstract

Before you begin, please prepare the following information:

1. Presenting author's contact details:

  • Email address
  • Full postal address
  • Office and Residential phone number

2. Author and co-authors' details -

  • Full first and family name(s)
  • Affiliation details: department, institution / hospital, city, state (if relevant), country

3. Abstract title - limited to 25 words in UPPER CASE

4. Abstract text – limited to 300- 350 words in Oral/Poster and individual abstracts in Symposium submission.

Technical Specifications

  • Use only standard abbreviations. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the full word appears the first time.
  • Use generic names of drugs. Express numbers as numerals.

Abstract Layout

Abstracts must be submitted with the following sections:

  • Background and aims
  • Methodology
  • Conclusion

Abstract Topics

Abstracts must be allocated to a specific category and topic area for the Scientific Program. You will need to select the category and topic most suited to your abstract. You can find the list of abstract topics from the website.

Please note that abstracts must be SUBMITTED before the deadline in order to be sent to review for inclusion in the Scientific Program.


Submission Guidelines

1 . General Overview of the Abstract Submission process

  • The entire abstract submission process has been simplified with step wise progression to the subsequent stages of submission.

  • Dashboard option has been provided to easily manage multiple submissions.

  • Step 1 will entail choosing the type of submission (Oral/Poster, Symposium, Workshop), List of topics, Personal Information and Co-author Information.

  • Step 2 will contain the necessary fields to be filled based on the type of submission that has been chosen in Step 1.

  • Step 3 will contain fields related to Ethics Committee Approval and Any Disclosures that are relevant to the current submission.

  • Step 4 will contain fields related to those who are applying for early career travel award (Applicable only for Oral/Poster submissions) after which the entire submission can be made.

  • Each step has Save and Next option enabling the user to save at each step of the submission process.

  • Preview option has been provided just prior to the final submission to enable the user to check before finally submitting.

  • From the Dashboard the author can edit the saved abstracts.

  • Authors need to submit the abstract by pressing the “SUBMIT” button in the dashboard. Once submitted the system will not allow for further modifications in the abstract.

  • Authors can withdraw the submission by pressing “WITHDRAW” button in the Dashboard.

2 . Instructions for Oral/Poster Abstract Submission

  • The total word count including Title, Aim & Background, Methodology and Results & Conclusions should have a minimum of 300 words and should not exceed more than 350 words.

3 . Instructions for Symposium Submission

  • The Chairperson / Convenor of the symposium should provide a Summary of the Symposium which should not exceed 150 words. The summary should include the title of the symposium and the names of each of the co-presenters.

  • Each presentation requires a full separate abstract. These need to be prepared to conform to the abstract requirements and should not exceed 350 words.

  • The Chairperson / Convenor is asked to submit the summary and the individual abstracts themselves submit both the summary and the individual abstracts once they compile all the abstracts for the symposium.

  • Each symposium can comprise a minimum 3 and a maximum of 5 abstracts.

4 . Instructions for Workshop Submission

  • The total word count including Title, Learning Objectives and Teaching methods should not exceed more than 250 words.

5 . Instructions to apply for Early Career Travel Award

  • In the abstract submission portal, kindly select Yes for the option for applying for Early Career Travel Award.

  • The applicant will also have to upload the following necessary documents for being eligible for selection of the award including Letter from Supervisor, Curriculum Vitae, Statement of Purpose in PDF Formats in the necessary fields which are provided during the application process.
